New Clinicians Engaging in Patient Safety

According to the National Collaborative for Improving the Clinical Learning Environment (NCICLE), clinical learning environments must find ways for new clinicians to engage in patient safety initiatives. While much work has been done in recent years, medical errors continue to be the cause of adverse events. Contemporary principles of patient safety must be taught and promoted for new clinicians to change the future of patient care.

Long-time ABQAURP Diplomate, Elaine Connor, receives 24th Annual James R. Lientz Humanitarian Award

Elaine Connor, RN-C, CHCQM-CM, Patient Advocate at St. Joseph's/Candler Hospital in Savannah, GA, was recently honored with the James. R. Lientz Humanitarian Award. With a record number of nominees (and nominations for Connor), the peer nominated award is presented each year to one co-worker based on his or her exemplification of the health system's mission - "Rooted in God's love, we treat illness and promote wellness for all people" - and values: compassion, quality, integrity, courtesy, accountability, and teamwork.
